Chateau de L’Oseraie, near Sablé-sur-Sarthe, Maine et Loire
This month’s featured property is Chateau de L’Oseraie, a fabulous 19th Century chateau available for holiday rental near Sablé-sur-Sarthe in Maine et Loire, Western Loire.
Restored 19th century splendour
The chateau has been beautifully restored, but still retains as much as possible of the original ambience and character of the building, whilst discretely adding modern conveniences to ensure guests have everything they need for the perfect holiday.
The owner Mrs Anne Mandale lives on site in a separate private apartment and says she fell in love with the chateau when they first visited, describing it as “blissfully peaceful and private, but in a great area to explore for many and varied activities and attractions”. Anne will make sure not to intrude on your stay, but is always on hand to offer suggestions for things to see and do that suit the tastes of your group.
Majestic chateau accommodation and grounds
The chateau sleeps 12 in 6 bedrooms, however the accommodation offers a great deal of flexibility and can comfortably accommodate both smaller groups in the top floor apartments, or larger groups using the entire chateau.
Luxuriously-appointed facilities
Each of the fabulous bedrooms has its own coffee machine and own bathroom. The living area comprises one big and one small sitting room and a stunning half panelled dining room with a table that can seat up to 22 people. There is direct access from this room to the terrace, perfect for al fresco dining and providing stunning views over the fields to the river.
Extensive private grounds and wildlife
The property is set in 50 acres of parkland and fields for guests to explore and there is an abundance of wildlife and birds that can be seen from the ground. Guests can fish for free on the small private river on site or on the river Sarthe which forms the property boundary (although you will need a license for this).
Local activities and attractions
There’s plenty to see and do nearby including watersports, boat hire and cruises along the beautiful rivers Sarthe and Mayenne, and there are many cycling and walking routes available. Le Mans Motor Museum and Le Mans 24 hour/ Classic races are just an hour’s drive from the chateau. The city of Angers with its excellent museums, tourist train and shopping is also within easy driving distance.
A week’s exclusive use of Chateau de L’Oseraie is £4600.
