Looking for a brilliant family holiday with younger children? Try France this year!
If you have a young family France is the perfect destination for your summer holidays! You only have to travel a short hop across The Channel for the chance for your children to experience a new culture, try new foods, speak a new language and see inspiring historical sites and beautiful nature.
Enjoy a stress-free break where you can self-drive with as much luggage as you need. Take an exciting ferry crossing with a cute overnight cabin, or daytime on board entertainment and a view of the sea from deck. Choose a self-catering cottage that’s got everything you need as your holiday home-from-home!
For the best possible experience you might want to plan your break with a ‘theme’ that fits the favourite activities and interests of your under 10s – after all busy days having fun means you can relax and enjoy some of the delicious local food and wine in peace once they are sound asleep in bed! Here are some ideas to help you decide on the perfect family holiday in France:
Farm holidays
If your kids love animals why not consider staying in a holiday property on a working farm? With an
opportunity to help out feeding livestock, collecting eggs, harvesting fruit and vegetables and getting up close to friendly goats, ponies and other animals it’s the perfect antidote to busy city life. A unique experience they will remember forever!
Beach holidays
Most children love the beach and you don’t have to travel far into France to find gorgeous sandy beaches, exciting rock pools to explore, a blue sea for splashing and ice-cream stalls will a bewildering myriad of flavours to choose from – a child’s paradise! Discover Normandy, Brittany or the Vendee coast for a seaside holiday enjoying sun, sand, sea and seafood in some of France’s favourite family resorts.
Castles & caves
Bring history to life with a holiday near some of the amazing historic sites of France; there are so many amazing castles to see and many include interactive entertainment for kids to try archery, dress in old armour, use a quill pen or sample ancient recipes. Play hide and seek in the ramparts or ruins, tell gruesome tales of dungeons and battles and be a knight or a queen for a day. There are also some
incredible cave systems open to the public in France – a real treat for any budding geologist or
minecrafter!
Cycling
With miles and miles of ‘voies vertes’ cycle paths offering safe routes for family cycling adventures you can plan your own Tour de France! It’s a wonderful way to explore the nature and countryside, and you can visit markets to stock up on delicious picnic supplies, or plan to hit pretty towns and villages for well-earned cafe lunches in tree-lined squares. Take your own bikes with you or arrange bike hire delivered direct to your holiday property for the duration of your stay.
Whatever type of holiday you choose you’ll make family memories that last a lifetime; new experiences,
quality time together and mouth-watering french crepes are a magical recipe for success!
