This month’s featured properties are Annie’s House and La Grange d’Henri at Domaine de la Bellevue in the pretty village of Pouançay, Vienne.

Relaxing couples retreat perfect for wine lovers!

Both gites have one bedroom, and are ideal for couples looking for a relaxing retreat in the Poitou Charentes sunshine from which to sample the local produce and wines of this diverse region. A particularly stunning feature of these properties is the on-site troglodyte caves which were once lived in many years ago!

Each gite is presented to a high standard and has its own fully equipped kitchen, modern shower room and light and airy bedroom. There is an outside terrace area for each property, perfect for al fresco dining and enjoying a bbq and glass of wine in the warm evening sunshine.

La Bellevue is owned by Sarah-Jane who has lived in France for over 10 years, and her husband Gerald who is a bilingual French wine professional.

Sarah-Jane and Gerald live on-site with their children Augustin and Constance and friendly rescue cat Biscotte, and are on hand to answer any questions you may have and give you recommendations of the best attractions and restaurants to visit in the local area.

Wine tasting experience with wine professional Gerald

You can even choose to organise a wine-tasting with Gerald at a local vineyard just over the border in the Loire Valley to sample some of the local wines of this fabulous region.

Gerald is an expert in his field and his wine tastings come very highly recommended.

Tranquil rural setting & local attractions

La Bellevue is located amongst sunflower fields and vineyards and there is plenty to see and do nearby, especially for any keen ramblers or cyclists. The majestic chateaux and attractions of the Loire Valley are nearby and just waiting to be explored.

Further afield, attractions such as Futuroscope and the pretty towns of the Poitou Charentes region are within easy driving distance.
