Le Rupestrien, near Flers, Swiss Normandy
This month’s featured property is Le Rupestrien, a fully renovated 2 bedroom stone cottage sleeping 4 people and set in the beautiful, rolling countryside of Suisse Normande.
The cottage is ideal for those who are looking for a relaxing break to get away from it all, but also for those who prefer a more active holiday, with plenty of outdoor pursuits such as fishing, hiking and horse riding to name but a few on the doorstep.
Open plan accommodation with limited mobility facilities
Le Rupestrien has a lovely open plan living/dining/kitchen area and 2 spacious bedrooms, one of which is located downstairs along with a large walk-in shower room making the property particularly well suited to guests with limited mobility. The cottage has its own private garden, including a patio with garden furniture and a bbq area.
The property is owned by Lynda London and her husband who are retired and moved to France from Spain in 1999 and set up their first gite complex. They have been in Normandy since 2013 and love the countryside setting and tranquillity of Le Rupestrien.
Lynda and her husband enjoy meeting people and take pride in providing a first class holiday experience for their guests. They both speak French and have become active inhabitants of the village since moving there.
Local attractions and places of historical interest
There is plenty to see and do nearby including numerous chateaux to visit with Chateau de Carrouges, Chateau de Flers and Chateau de Vendeuvre to name but a few. The castle at Falaise is also great for those interested in history, with an interactive tour available in most languages showing the castle as it was in the time of William the Conqueror.
The coast is less than an hour’s drive away with many stunning beaches and rocky coastlines to explore. For horse lovers, Le Haras du Pin, National Stud Farm is well worth a visit showcasing horses in training, elegant stables and so much more.
Outdoor activities and watersports on the doorstep
Active guests will love the outdoor activities available literally on the doorstep with many beautiful forests, nature trails and lakes offering watersports, canoeing, kayaking and outdoor swimming.
However those who like to relax on holiday are also well catered for as the cottage is the perfect place to simply sit back and dine al fresco on the patio in the sunshine – after all Le Rupestrien is located in a region world renowned for its freshly made bread, cider and Camembert!
A week’s stay at Le Rupestrien starts from just £360.
