La Perode, Rouffignac, Dordogne
The month’s featured property is La Perode, an extensively renovated former farmstead nestling within the rolling Dordogne countryside. The property is set in over 10 acres of fields and woodland and is a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers and a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
La Perode is owned by Alec Robshaw and his potter wife Annie who bought the property in 2006. They have lived there permanently since 2010 and have been heavily involved with the development and renovation work throughout.
Although they live on site, Alec and Annie pride themselves on being as unobtrusive as possible during your stay, yet always on hand to make sure your holiday is trouble free and totally relaxing!
Luxury accommodation with extensive facilities
La Perode is perfect for those who love to cook and boasts a modern fully-equipped kitchen with a double-oven range cooker and 5 ring ceramic hob. Additionally there is a beautiful private outdoor terrace which is perfect for al fresco dining and boasts a fabulous summer kitchen with hot and cold running water and top of the range bbq.
The property can comfortably sleep 9 people in 5 bedrooms, all of which are full of character and range from a large ground floor en suite bedroom with its own private terrace, a spacious timber framed room with its own balcony and a cosy loft room with exposed beams.
Child-friendly pool
The real highlight of this property is the fabulous private 12 x 6m pool with Roman steps at one end to facilitate easy access. The pool is security fenced and has childproof gated access for your peace of mind. There are plenty of chairs and loungers available for sunbathing, as well as table tennis and other games facilities to keep children of all ages entertained!
Local amenities
The nearby village of Rouffignac is a short drive or pleasant walk away and has everything you need from a boulangerie for your daily fresh bread and pastries to a supermarket for your weekly shop, in addition to a good selection of bars and restaurants.
There is a busy market here on Sundays which is well worth a visit during your stay, and the market square is also home to a number of night markets and other events during the busy months of July and August.
Watersports and other activities
If you want to venture slightly further afield, why not try your hand at kayaking or canoeing down the Vezere, Dordogne or Dronne rivers that run through the region?
There are plenty of other activities available to take part in during your stay including golf, horse riding, hot air-ballooning or simply getting outside and stretching your legs in the beautiful Dordogne countryside – due to the fascinating historical past of the area, there are also plenty of nearby Chateaux and fortified towns just waiting to be explored.
A week’s stay at La Perode starts from just £990 per week for 9 guests.
