Plan a trip to Futuroscope and expect to be amazed!
Futuroscope is a theme park located to the north of Poitiers in France. It attracts millions of visitors each year who flock to see exciting shows, try unbelievable rides and be part of immersive experiences created using the latest science and technology. The park is one of the most popular attractions in France and won the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and Travellers Choice awards in 2018. The secret to its continued success since opening back in 1987 is in the constant innovation with new attractions added to the park every year.
The tagline of Futuroscope is ‘Expect the unexpected’ and it really lives up to that by offering truly unique and memorable experiences that combine the latest science with entertainment for a day out that all the family will enjoy. Here are seven recommendations for your visit this summer:
1. Plan your day
As with any large theme park it definitely pays to spend some time researching what’s on offer checking timetables for shows, and queue times for rides, so you can make the most of your day. Use the mobile app to keep track of what’s happening and prioritise five or six must-do activities so you don’t miss anything!
2. Go on an incredible journey while still in your seat
Enjoy immersive 4D cinema experiences travelling through time with the Raving Rabbids, discovering new lands on the Extraordinary Voyage, shooting through Space at Cosmic Collision and joining Arthur to experience life in miniature in his fairytale world.
3. Enjoy the view
Order your favourite drink 115m up in the air at the Aerobar, it’s an unforgettable and exhilarating experience with a great view over the park and surrounding areas. The Gyrotour is another way to get a bird’s eye view of the area as you slowly spiral up 150m in the circular observatory and marvel at the panoramic views.
4. Discover the ultimate kids’ playground
Futuropolis is one of the newer areas at the park where younger children can live their grown up dreams in a child-size world enjoying fun rides themed around driving, emergency services jobs and scientific invention. There are water-play areas here too so if it’s a hot day bring their swimming gear!
5. Enter The Arena
The Arena offers challenges, fun and laughter for all the family with games to test your physical and mental skills. Find out who has the fastest reflexes, the best memory and the quickest wits as you work through the eight different zones.
6. Dance with Robots
Perhaps the most iconic ride at Futuroscope, Dances with Robots sees you attached to one of ten giant robot arms on a disco dance floor. Enjoy a wild ride as you groove to the music on this sensational ‘Robocoaster’.
7. See a show
There are lots of shows on the Futuroscope schedule offering both educational and entertaining experiences. The must-see extravaganzas are the award winning illusiO magic show and the spectacular evening performance; an aquatic fairytale fantasy presented by Cirque du Soleil using stunning visual, water and pyrotechnic effects – don’t go home ‘til you’ve seen it!
Futuroscope is a fantastic place to go if you are holidaying in the region; make a full day of it or why not just drop in for the evening? Evening tickets cost less and you can see the spectacular evening show and some of the attractions during a shorter visit; ideal for adults, families with older children, or those on a repeat visit who have experienced the park before. Don’t miss the chance to see this world class attraction!
