Les Chenes, Antrain, Ille et Vilaine, Brittany
This month’s properties of the month are a renovated farmhouse (ref: BI004479) and gite (ref: BI004200) near the Normandy/Brittany border that make up “Les Chenes”.
They can sleep up to 10 people when booked together, making this the perfect retreat for a larger group of family or friends – but are also ideal for a smaller party, the individual gites sleeping 4 and 6 respectively.
Music tuition, relaxation and cooking!
The properties are owned by Daphne Denton who, along with her children, has enjoyed this region of France since she purchased the property in 1999 – and now her grandchildren love visiting too!
Gloucestershire-based Daphne is a music teacher and performer, who can provide her guests with the unique feature of a fabulous electric piano to practice their music on, and even offer revision music courses with tuition in both theory and several instruments being available.
Both properties have large living areas which have attractive feature fireplaces and excellent fully-fitted kitchens – perfect for those who enjoy cooking and want to try out some recipes with the delicious fresh produce they have bought from the nearby local markets!
Accommodation and facilities
There are 2 bedrooms in each property; BI004200 can sleep up to 6 people in one double room and another with a double bed and bunk beds whereas BI004479 sleeps 4 in one double and one twin room.
Each property has access to a large, secluded garden which is fully enclosed and surrounded by fields. Outside seating is provided and there is a shady terrace and barbecue, ideal for enjoying a glass of French wine outside on a warm summer’s evening!
Rural location close to Brittany’s famous attractions
Although the properties are in a rural location, the village of La Fontenelle with a lovely bar/restaurant and tennis court is within walking distance, and the larger town of Antrain is just 1km away and has everything you will need for your stay, including a supermarket, banks, pharmacies, boulangeries, newsagent and several bars and restaurants.
For those who like to venture further afield there is also plenty to see and do in the local area, including a visit to the famous Mont St Michel which was restored to the status of an island in 2015 and is less than 30 minutes away from Les Chenes.
It’s also well worth taking a visit to the beautiful beaches of Dinard and St Malo where there is also a “Grand Aquarium” that kids will love. For more active guests, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes nearby!
A week’s stay at Les Chenes starts from just £495.
