New Year’s Resolutions for French travel that you’ll want to keep this year!

Instead of giving something up this year why not pledge to do something extra instead? After a 2020 of lockdowns and restrictions we’re hoping that 2021 will allow us all the chance to get back to the things we love… including France! Here are five ideas for New Year’s Resolutions that could make your next French trip extra special:

1. Share some memories

Many of us have special memories of trips to France when we were children; a camping trip with family in the Dordogne, a weekend at Disneyland Paris or even a school trip to the Normandy battlefields. Why not share your experiences with your family by taking them on a trip down memory lane? You’ll be surprised how many stories you’ll have to tell and amazed to see what has changed, and what has stayed exactly the same! For bonus points dig out those old photos and recreate the scenes for a then/now
comparison.

2. Timing is everything

Summer is by far the most popular time for a holiday, but even if you are tied to the school timetable there are so many opportunities to see a different side to France by choosing a different season for your stay. Visit in Spring to see the gardens of the Loire chateaux bursting into bloom or Autumn for the delicious harvest season in the Dordogne. Winter breaks are a wonderful choice as you cosy up by the fire in a traditional Brittany cottage and enjoy bracing beach walks… your dog will be welcome at many of our properties too!

3. Try an opposite approach

It’s good to try something new, you never know it might turn out to be even better than your tried and tested holiday style! If you love a holiday at the beach, try taking a break on a farm or in the mountains. If you prefer a rural idyll, try the bright lights of a coastal resort town. If you usually go all-inclusive, see how much fun self-catering can be with trips to the market and a chance for all the family to try out delicious regional cooking.

4. Go as a group

It’s true to say that holidays are the perfect way to spend quality time with the ones you love. Turn a family vacation into a family celebration with grandparents and siblings families all going away together. Get friends together for a lovely break when you plan an adventurous outdoorsy escape or a luxury villa retreat. If you are part of a club, why not organise a group trip? Whether it’s golf, running, fishing, climbing, watersports or wine tasting there’s a wonderful time to be had taking your favorite hobby to France!

5. Take a tour!

If you have time to spend two weeks or more on holiday, you have time to make it a multi-stop tour! Plan an exciting trip through France staying a few nights at each stop on your route to experience so much more during your break. Instead of a long drive through the night to reach the South Coast you can meander across France in a leisurely fashion making the journey part of the fun! Visit famous sites you’ve always wanted to see along the way and have a road trip to remember.
